10 Email Prompts That Will Get You Excited About Email Marketing

Apr 17, 2020

Email marketing feels tedious and loathsome for many business owners. I'm not one of them, personally I love email marketing and list building, but I do get it. So in an effort to make it a little less loathsome, I'm providing you with several email prompts that have gotten me my highest open rates. I have an average open rate of 60% with my list whereas the average business' open rate is a mere 20%. So in the interest of higher open rates, let's do this!

1. Introductory email sharing your story. You can do this every so often for your newer subscribers that have joined since your last introduction or welcome email.

2. Email that relates to something trendy to your niche. For instance, I recently wrote an email on how to digitally declutter. This email received my highest percentage open rate EVER! With Marie Kondo and the minimalist lifestyle becoming extremely popular, people really enjoyed this topic.

3. Address frequently asked questions that you're approached with by customers or potential customers.

4. Share some of your favorite products or recent purchases. Bonus if they relate to your industry but they certainly don't have to. (These should not be the products you sell, the aim is to provide your list with value without selling them anything.)

5. Link to a live video you've done that received a lot of engagement and positive feedback. If you don't have a live video to link to because you haven't started doing live videos, this is your sign to get moving. They're huge for business. If you want to see how I do mine, find me at Mikaela Del Giudice Digital Marketing on Facebook or @mikdigitalmarketing on Instagram.

6. Offer universal hacks that everyone can implement into their daily lives, as long as it makes sense with your brand. I've done productivity hack emails or how to get more time back in your day.

7. Write an email speaking to your ICA's struggles. I've addressed dealing with imposter syndrome, what to do if you're feeling uninspired, or how to handle marketing to "crickets."

8. Offer a special discount or coupon code exclusively for your email subscribers. This makes them feel special and gives them an additional reason to be a part of your community.

9. Support other small businesses. You could team up with another business owner and agree to "spotlight" each other in your regular emails. This supports other entrepreneurs but also exposes you to a whole new network. It's a win-win. (Sidenote: make sure this is someone that's not your direct competitor, otherwise it defeats the purpose of this exercise.)

10. Provide support. Ask your list if there's anything you can do for them, any way you can support them. They'll be touched by the compassion and appreciate that you aren't just talking about yourself in every correspondence with them.

Well there you have it! Ten email prompts that will hopefully be as wildly successful for you as they were for me.
